Transource is developing the Rice-Ringgold Project, a 29-mile double circuit 230 kV transmission line connecting the new 500/230kV Rice substation in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania to the Ringgold substation in Smithsburg, Maryland. This project, awarded by the PJM Interconnection, LLC (PJM), is needed to reduce grid congestion and allow lower-cost power to flow more efficiently to area communities. Transource is working closely with landowners, local officials, and key stakeholders to ensure their critical input is considered.
Transource plans to host two open houses on March 16 and 17, 2026, to seek input about the project from landowners and community stakeholders near the Rice-Ringgold Transmission Line Project. These events provide an opportunity for attendees to meet with project team members, ask questions, and learn more about the proposed transmission line.
Transource encourages additional input from the community and asks that comments be submitted by March 31 , 2026, to ensure the team has time to thoughtfully consider each comment. Feedback received will inform refinements to the routes that will be filed in the siting application with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission this spring.
Open House Details are shown below. Each event will be open to the public from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
